It Starts With a Thought
“Can I Actually Do This?”

Getting a motorcycle licence
can feel like a big step.

Maybe you’re unsure of your ability.
Maybe your confidence isn’t quite there yet.
Maybe you’ve been putting it off.

But here’s the truth:
It’s not about if you can get your licence… it’s about when. With the right people guiding you, it becomes a whole lot easier—and a lot more fun.

Welcome to Local Motorcycle School.

We are thrilled you’ve chosen us to start or continue your riding journey. Our goal is to help you build confidence, ride safely, and achieve your licence in a supportive, structured environment.

Your local riding school is the school that can provide you with a “lady instructor”, whether you’re a nervous newbie or just looking to unlock skills from yesteryear!

We are a locally operated motorcycle training school focused on safe, practical, and personalised rider education to meet the Department of Transport (DOT)standard.

We are an appointment only office, so if we are away with other students, unable to take your call or you contact us out of hours, please just leave a message or drop us a text and we will get back to you by the end of the day.

  • You are welcome to use your own motorcycle, but we may want to do a safety check on it before your lesson.

What to Expect

  • Structured, supportive lessons tailored to your needs
  • Real-time feedback
  • Focus on safety, confidence and defensive riding skills

Tracking your progress

The number of lessons people need differs between individuals. We will always ensure that you are fully confident and competent at each level as we move through the training stages. Our key priority is your safety and confidence.

We use a structured course that we use to track your progress. This way you and your instructor will always know where you are on your learning journey and how we can adapt to your needs.

Local motorcycle school uses:

  • Documented and monitored training curriculum and
  • Personally developed visual resources to support the understanding of roadcraft techniques, road positioning, and assessment standards required by the DOT.

Your journey is broken down to an easy 4 stage process:

  •  Bike Skills Development

  • Bike fundamentals and motor bike control
  •  Roadcraft 101
  • Quiet and single use road and lanes
  • Roadcraft 102
  • Busier multi lane and freeway
  • Test
  • Licence (happy days!)

Where We Teach / How We Operate

Lesson locations will vary depending on where you are in your skills and confidence journey.

We will agree the location of the lesson with you at the time you book, although there may sometimes be a need to make changes to these arrangements in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as weather, or other road conditions.

The locations will mainly be around the Wellard, Kwinana, Rockingham, Success, Mandurah and Kelmscott areas.

Other locations and test centres like City West, Midland, Mirrabooka, Cannington and Joondalup will need to be discussed due to longer riding and booking times.

Our closest DOT centres are Rockingham , Success, and Kelmscott.

We cannot make test bookings for you. You need to go to DOT website to book your test https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/. Please try to give us at least 2 weeks’ notice so we can schedule the test in for you.

When you have booked a test, please inform us ASAP so we can schedule accordingly.

We do our best to prioritise test candidates over normal lessons candidates if there are conflicting schedules, however we cannot guarantee that.

Test Conditions

Under our duty of care to you, we reserve the right to refuse to take any student to a driving assessment if we believe they are not yet meeting the required DOT standard, or if they may pose a risk to themselves, our instructors, assessors, property, other road users, or members of the public.

Indemnity / Waiver

  • All students must sign an indemnity form on the day of, and prior tocommencing, their first lesson.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to their first lesson and also sign the indemnity form.

Final Note

Getting you over the finishing line is just the beginning! So, let’s get started….
